A monastery guest house, people who withdraw from the daily routine of their daily lives to the monastery for a retreat are given the space and time to go on holidays with the Christ - in solitude.

The monastery offers an excellent environment for such a time in retreat – with quietness, space, books and human guides. However, the services of human guides or retreat directors are optional. Retreats are for individuals and groups, for lay people, priest and religious alike.

Duration of Retreats

Lay persons who want to come to the monastery for retreat can stay for a maximum of seven (7) days but for priests and religious, it may be longer. )

  Facilities available at the guest house includes all en suite:

•  Large comfortable rooms, over twenty-two units

•  Two conference rooms

•  A private chapel from retreats

•  Preached or Directed retreat

•  Meals are provided for in the retreat house refectory at fixed times three times daily

•  Cost

The minimum cost for a retreat night is N1, 000 (one thousand naira) per person per night. Generous people can give more.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES

•  Groups can come with their retreat directors or directress if they so wish.

•  Tours round the monastery can also be arranged for groups on request.

•  Groups that come for a day's program (recollection) or workshop are not required to pay except if they request to have a meal made available for them.

 

Procedure for booking for Retreat :

It is strongly advisable that those intending to come to the monastery for retreat make their reservations well ahead of time

Booking is done either at the monastery or by emailing guestmaster@ewumonks.org (NB: booking through mail can be a slow process and confirmation for booked retreat should be printed out and brought to monastery when coming to commence retreat
